In collaboration with the City of Orlando and hosted by HKS Orlando office, this design charette aimed at revitalizing the South Parramore neighborhood, lying west of the I-4 Expressway, divided from the thriving Orlando downtown to the west. A historically and predominantly black neighborhood, Parramore faces endemic connectivity issues, low walkability, and a lack of essential amenities, including grocery stores, public parks, and internet access. Urban interventions were introduced into this historically disenfranchised community to empower healthy and positive interactions, including connecting pedestrian pathways, providing spaces for urban farming and shared internet access and environmental features like urban wetlands and a bioswale.
