Domino-Poche
The world expands. Some live, some die.
M.Arch Studio IV, Instructor: Lars Spuybroek.

This project explores generative design through a rules-based system, aiming to produce architectural forms that transcend conscious authorial intent. The methodology involved a ‘game’ played with a custom set of dominoes, where each piece corresponded to an architectural component like poché, a wall, or a floor. The emergent arrangements from this process generated a vast and complex “jungle” of inhabitable spaces. that were accessed by ladders and poche clusters were rotated by wheels. Inspired by Susana Clarke’s ‘Piranesi’, a cast of characters lived in this jungle of Poche, adapting to their environment by collecting rainwater, fishing from a flooded floor, and anticipating the structure’s movements to ensure their survival.
